Accessibility Statement

Last updated: June 2026

Our commitment

Vortex Estimating LLC is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to people with disabilities, in line with the principles of WCAG 2.1, Level AA. We treat accessibility as a basic feature, not a bolt-on.

Conformance status

The current target for vortexestimating.com is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We measure conformance using a combination of automated tools (axe, Lighthouse), manual keyboard and screen-reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver), and review against the WCAG 2.1 success criteria. We treat known issues as bugs and prioritise them in our normal release cycle.

What we've done

  • Semantic HTML with proper landmark roles (header, main, nav, footer) on every page.
  • Visible keyboard focus rings on all interactive elements, including buttons, links, and form fields.
  • Form fields with explicit programmatic labels, required-field markers, and inline error messages.
  • Colour contrast ratios meet 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components.
  • Site is usable at 200% zoom in a single column on mobile breakpoints.
  • Skip-to-content link available for keyboard users (tab from the top of any page).
  • Alt text on meaningful images; decorative images marked aria-hidden.
  • Respect for prefers-reduced-motion — animations are subdued or disabled accordingly.

Known issues we're working on

  • A few legacy blog images lack descriptive alt text — being audited and updated in batches.
  • Embedded PDF takeoff samples may not be fully tagged; we provide HTML alternatives on request.

Tested with

  • NVDA on Windows with Firefox and Chrome.
  • VoiceOver on macOS with Safari and on iOS with Safari Mobile.
  • Keyboard-only navigation on Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Report a barrier

If you find any part of the site difficult to use, please tell us. We'll respond within 5 business days and prioritise a fix.

Formal complaints

If you believe we have not met our obligations under accessibility law, you may file a complaint with the appropriate authority in your jurisdiction. For United States visitors, that is the U.S. Department of Justice (Title II/III of the ADA). For United Kingdom visitors, the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
